Job Overview - Minister of Students and Education Purpose and Primary Responsibilities: The Minister of Students and Education is responsible to the Pastor for the development and promotion of a comprehensive education and student program and ministry for the church. To coordinate, administer, and promote a Christ-centered ministry focusing on education, discipleship, evangelism, spiritual growth, and Christian fellowship for the entire church, with a major emphasis to students. The Minister of Students and Education will take work directions from the Pastor. Additional ministry functions may include visitation, assisting in services as directed by the Pastor, and service as an ex officio member on appropriate committees. This person must be able to effectively engage with students and parents as we seek to partner with families in their child's discipleship. In addition to the responsibilities listed, the Minister of Students and Education will be responsible for all duties assigned by the Senior Pastor. Ideal candidate has put his faith in Jesus Christ and has been baptized. He would have a 4-year college degree, seminary graduate or equivalent youth ministry experience. He would be ordained or able to be ordained by his current church. The ideal candidate would be married or in a biblical relationship. Job Responsibilities Be responsible for the total education and student programs for the church. Minister to, plan and coordinate, retreats, seminars, and training sessions for all members of the church. Support the total program of the church through faithful attendance to the programs and activities provided. Assist the Pastor as requested with the following responsibilities: filling the pulpit, visitation of members, shut-ins, prospects, and hospitals, conducting funerals and weddings as requested either by family or by the Pastor in his absence; if ordained assist with the administering of the church ordinances (baptism and communion). Maintain a “visible presence” in the community. Skills and Abilities Self-starter: Ability to prioritize projects and able to utilize creative problem-solving skills. Teachable: Able to receive feedback and must be a constant learner. Passion: Vision for enhancing student ministry to better achieve the mission of Ebenezer Baptist Church in fulfilling the Great Commission. Servant Hearted: Someone who serves with a positive attitude and a willingness to do whatever task may be required. Innovator: Enthusiastic about improvement, innovative, and future minded.
